Cooks Beach

Our rental house in Cooks Beach, Coromandel Peninsula has a few things going for it:

  • A lime tree and a lemon tree producing lots of fruit: today we’re making lemonade, lemon curd, and lemon bars. I may also try to make some candied lemon peel to take with us when we check out tomorrow.
  • Very close to a long sand beach (see below)
  • Within a 15 minute drive of two of the premier tourist sights on the Coromandel: Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove
  • Three bedrooms and a nicely appointed kitchen

Our kids are seldom happier than when they’re climbing around water…

Or playing in sand.

A funny note: we all call Hot Water Beach, the famous sand beach with geothermal springs that cause very warm/hot water to come up through the sand, HOG Water Beach. Because that’s how I misheard it the first couple times. Needless to say, there were no pigs on the beach, but there was some really cool hot sand and water!
