Today the kids and I got to hang out with some new but dear friends. It was so sweet to see my kids playing with their friends. We made the most of the incredibly beautiful weather in Christchurch and visited two playgrounds (Ilam playground and the Christchurch Botanics playground), as well as wandered through the gardens finding pieces of nature to bring home. While the kids made nature collages, I prepped breakfast for dinner, and then we sat around eating. The conversation flow felt like 5 kids playing ping pong, but instead of using paddles they had water pistols. And at the end of dinner–pikelets (NZ pancakes); scrambled eggs; apples; and hash browns–they all asked for more food, so we made toast and I cut up even more apples.

So fun!

I am profoundly thankful for friendship, for the unbelievably gorgeous place we’re getting to live, for long bright autumn days still warm enough for shorts, for peace and quiet after a day well-spent.
