It was a school night, but we decided not to miss the (slightly) warmer late afternoon sun. I packed up a simple but filling picnic dinner and we drove to Victoria Park. We got there in time to eat as the sun went down over the mountains.
If you live in a super-mountainous area this may not look that dramatic to you, but for us Delawarean flatlanders it was thrilling.
After dinner just after the sun set, we walked to a cool playground and let the kids play as the lights all over Christchurch city twinkled on (my camera battery died so the final photo is from my cell phone–sorry for the lower quality).
